8 Wrestlers Who Turned Down Big Money WWE Deals

7. Abyss

Undertaker versus Abyss was top of the list of potential WWE-TNA dream matches for years, the latter being a sort-of cross between the Deadman and his estranged brother Kane, in that he wears a mask and gets led around by a calculating mentor who looks like he belongs in a David Lynch movie.

It could have been a reality too, in 2007, when the "Monster" (TNA aren't as good at nicknames as WWE) was offered the chance to jump ship under the lure of a WrestleMania 23 showdown with his kindred spirit.

Abyss revealed in a Reddit AMA two years ago that after weighing up this options, he decided to stay in Orlando, having been part of the Impact Zone furniture ever since the early days in 2002. If the rest of the TNA originals had shown this sort of loyalty, the wrestling landscape today might look very different.

It was probably the correct decision at any rate. WWE has only really began to embrace the creations of its rival promotions over the last couple of years, and it's likely that he would have been lost in the mid-card shuffle the second his feud with 'Taker was over.
