8 Wrestlers With Gimmicks Ripped Off From Comics

1. Sting (The Crow/The Joker)

Sting's descent into madness as a Joker-inspired prince of mayhem in 2011 wasn't the first time he'd played a character inspired by comic books. Before joining TNA, he dyed his blonde hair black, grew it out, started dressing in a trench coat and painted his face to mimic James O'Barr's Crow character in 1996.

If that was a complete departure from the norm, then imagine how the man's long time fans were feeling when he suddenly started prowling around the Impact Zone like Batman's arch nemesis; though true Sting drew more inspiration from Heath Ledger's Joker in 2008's The Dark Knight, that character owes itself to the original in comic form.

It appears old Stinger is a fan of the medium.

His dramatic portrayals of The Crow and Joker are memorable for different reasons. Both came out of left field and the latter allowed him to show off more of his personality in promos. It was unpredictable, just like the ever-grinning super villain.

Why so serious?
