Sami Zayn may just be the unluckiest superstar to ever get the call-up from NXT to the main roster, due to the fact that on his debut night on Raw, he seriously injured himself before even stepping into the ring. He still made a lasting impression, wrestling one of 2015s finest matches against John Cena and putting up an incredibly valiant effort but, in the grand scheme of things, this match and his subsequent NXT Title shot against Kevin Owens at NXT Takeover: Unstoppable was more like a farewell tour before he hung up his boots for the next seven months. Hes back now, however, and based on recent appearances (especially those against the likes of Finn Bálor on the NXT brands first ever tour overseas), he is as good as new. We know that Zayn feels hes accomplished everything he needs to on the developmental brand, and given the number of spots opening up, and the perfect opportunity to re-emerge at the Royal Rumble, the time is right now for Sami Zayn to take the WWE by storm. Sami Zayn was a cornerstone of NXTs successes in 2014 due to his easily relatable and loveable babyface character, so if it aint broke, dont fix it. Zayn should approach his time on the main roster in the same way, earning the respect of the WWE Universe in the process. With Daniel Bryan on the shelf, fans need somebody they can cling to, and Sami Zayns rise through the ranks in NXT would suggest that he could very well be the next guy that the fans get behind and want to see succeed on the big stage. Zayns eagerness and energy in the ring is unparalleled, and its going to come across really well when hes taking on some of the companys top dogs. Quite frankly, I cant think of any active performer on the WWE roster right now more fitting for a United States Championship reign than Zayn. An immediate title win would do more for the title than playing hot potato with it ever could, and would get Sami Zayn over as a legitimate star to the masses.
