After having been written off TV for most of 2000, Sid Vicious was written into a four-way feud for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship culminating at a match at Sin. Before the match, WCW management approached Sid and told him that he needed to broaden his move-set, asking him to incorporate more aerial attacks and maneuvers into his routine, even though Sid was clearly against this idea. During the pay-per-view match, Sid botched a leap from the second turnbuckle in an attempted big boot causing Sid to brake his left leg in half, snapping both the tibia and fibia, with at least one segment of bone exposed through the skin. This was in fact so graphic, that certain TV stations refused to air it the next night, although many did. Most would agree that its unnecessary for wrestlers of Sid's size to dive, fly and perform aerial attacks, clearly WCW management thought differently, essentially ending his in-ring career.
