8 Wrestling Tag Teams With Contrasting Singles Careers
7. The World's Greatest Tag Team
Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin were originally teamed with Kurt Angle as a pair of dogsbodies brought in to do the Olympic gold medalist's bidding, but were out on their own when he turned face on his return after WrestleMania XIX.
Their first run as a tag team was ended at the annual draft lottery in 2004. Benjamin was sent to Monday nights, where he quickly established himself as one of WWE's brightest young stars - even claiming an unlikely television victory over Triple H. Haas, meanwhile, remained on SmackDown, teaming up with Rico and never quite having the required razzmatazz to break out on his own.
While neither of them made it to the main event - indeed, they would eventually reunite for a second run as the World's Greatest Tag Team a few years later - Benjamin came far closer to breaking through the glass ceiling.
