8 WWE Royal Rumble 2016 Surprises That Could Happen
7. The Ghosts Of Rumbles Past
Recent years have seen an uptick in surprise entrants from wrestling's past. Kevin Nash, Booker T, "Road Dogg" Jesse James and even The Boogeyman have competed in the Royal Rumble match over the last three years, each receiving a hero's welcome upon their return. Even The Godfather, a character decidedly not adherent to the PG standards of today's WWE product, took a stab at one last shot at glory. With a roster blasted by injury, top stars such as John Cena, Randy Orton and Seth Rollins on the shelf, there are more openings for this year's match than at any time since the horrid 2012 broadcast. That show featured commentators hopping into the squared circle, something not likely to occur again given the critical damning that match received. Competitors from the New Generation, Attitude Era and Ruthless Aggression Era are all possibilities when it comes to continuing the tradition of ghosts of Rumbles past starring in its future.
