The women's Royal Rumble boasted a healthy number of former faces (and heels) from various eras in WWE, and all of them quietly complimented the rhythm and flow of a heated and enjoyable edition of the match.

Jillian Hall, Victoria, Torrie Wilson, Alicia Fox and - per Tom Phillips' labelling her as such - Mickie James added texture to the contest alongside the various NXT special guests and Raw and SmackDown regular.

Considering the potential setbacks that could have been brought on by the pandemic, the 2021 edition of the match was probably the best for blending the surprises with the favourites from the main roster. 2018's was fought in celebratory fashion and far more focussed on legacy moments. These were nostalgic bursts of light relief that were all well woven into the story.

Victoria fought for the honour of her own finisher against the Riott Squad and reuniting IIconics, Hall briefly bonded with Billie Kaye, and Alicia Fox won and lost the 24/7 Championship. Good sh*t for the most part, all of this. And none of it got in the way of the serious stuff, which was also mostly excellent...
