8 WWE Secrets You Can Spot Early (If You Really Pay Attention)

4. Michael Cole Spoils WrestleMania XV

Cast your mind back to 1999, a very exciting time to be a WWE fan, to say the least. WrestleMania XV had arrived, arguably the most exciting 'Mania in a long time, a major show featuring a whole new generation of stars with two of its brightest in the main event. The Rock was WWE Champion going in but he had one heck of a challenge on his hands in the shape of Stone Cold Steve Austin.

Who was going to win? Was corporate stooge Rock going to be dragged over the finish line by the dastardly Vince McMahon? Were we going to see a reprise of the 1998 Survivor Series finish, itself a reprise of Montreal in '97? Or was Stone Cold going to stick it to the man and win the title for the people?

You didn't need to watch the whole show because Michael Cole gave the finish away prior to the semi-main event.

"Don't forget, immediately following WrestleMania, as you see the Hell in a Cell, the ominous cell making its way down over the ring, on the home shopping network, its the show after the show, post-game comments, we'll hear from the new WWF Champion and you'll have the chance to buy some exclusive merchandise, right after WrestleMania, on the home shopping network".

Exclusive merchandise sounds cool and all, as does Stone Cold on QVC, but that doesn't make Michael Cole spoiling the main event any more forgivable. That being said, everyone and their dog knew that Stone Cold was winning.

Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
