Meanwhile, on 22 July, Brock wasn't keen to work with anyone.

News of Vince McMahon's sudden retirement from WWE took the wrestling world by storm before that evening's episode of SmackDown aired. It was huge, and many wondered what kind of impact McMahon's departure would have on the fed's top stars.

Lesnar answered that by refusing to appear as advertised on SmackDown. WWE staffers flapped big time, because they knew it'd p*ss a fair few folks off at FOX if they didn't deliver what they'd promised. Finally, Brock agreed to show up after all, and everyone calmed down a little.

Is this cheating? Absolutely, because Lesnar wasn't actually pencilled in to wrestle a match on the card. Instead, he was there to kick lumps out of regular punching bag Austin Theory and close out the broadcast. Brock was annoyed by Vince's retirement though, and initially stuck a giant middle finger up at that end segment and WWE as a whole.
