9 Ballsiest WWE Promos Ever

7. CM Punk Warns Parents About Jeff Hardy's Influence On Their Children

Of course, whenever people think of ballsy promos, they're inclined to call upon CM Punk's infamous pipe bombs (don't worry, those haven't been forgotten), but there was another Punk promo that probably didn't seem as gutsy as it actually was. The release of the Jeff Hardy 'My Life, My Rules' DVD set happened to come just after his feud against CM Punk. And so, as all the best villains do, Punk took the opportunity to "get real" with the audience, warning parents not to buy the DVD for their children and calling Hardy a terrible influence.

It was audacious, not because he was telling people not to buy a WWE product, but because he had a legitimate point. Jeff Hardy, a "recovering" drug addict who made his living jumping off very tall things onto other people, may not have been the best role model for children. Sure, there's something to be said for his whole "I've made mistakes and am trying to change my life around" angle he was employing during his feud with Punk, but those seemed like empty words at the time, and appear even more hollow when viewing them through the same lens that shows Hardy, less than two years later, showing up to a TNA pay-per-view so doped up that they had to cut his match short for his own safety.

Just a few months before the release of the DVD, Jeff had been busted by the authorities, who found drugs and drug paraphernalia on his property. This all happened just a couple of weeks after he left WWE in September 2009. In fact, Punk's many worked shoots on Hardy seem to become more prescient with every "mistake" Hardy made. So maybe this wasn't just a ballsy way for him to get heat. Maybe this was a legitimate warning.
