Poor Hector Guerrero (y'know, brother of the late, great Eddie) was forced to look like a complete moron at the 1990 Survivor Series pay-per-view by his paymasters. The exact same thing could be said about the ever-professional 'Mean' Gene Okerlund.

For weeks, the then-WWF hyped up what would hatch out of a giant egg at Survivor Series, but it turned out to be a complete disaster; fan reaction to The Gobbledy Gooker's debut was so negative that Hector was out of a gig shortly afterwards, despite plans to make the character an official mascot for the WWF.

Oddly, the actual hatching itself wasn't the most cringeworthy moment of the segment. That came when Okerlund put a brave face on and decided to take such merriment to the ring, inviting the Gooker to dance with him - much to the bemusement of those who had purchased tickets.

Credit to Gene, because the old pro really tried to make the best of a bad situation, but The Gobbledy Gooker was an outright failure from the get-go. He should never have made it onscreen.
