Throughout the '80s, the Texas territory was terrorised by a gang of ruffians united under the umbrella of Skandor Akbar. Dallas' Sportatorium was frequently ablaze with excitement as the Von Erichs valiantly battled the General's charges, spearheaded by frightful heels The Missing Link, Kamala, King Kong Bundy, and Mick Foley.

On one occasion, the Lebanese Akbar - stereotypical dressed in Middle Eastern garb in keeping with the xenophobic wrestling climate of time - urged Missing Link to nut Kerry von Erich in the face so many times that commentator Bill Mercer feared his nose must be broken. It was the sort of unbridled brutality which characterised his faction - and persuaded punters to part with their money on the chance they might receive their comeuppance.

Akbar's Army migrated with him to Bill Watt's UWF promotion. Despite their antics raising the roof in the mid-south just as they had in Texas, they were never quite the right fit for the squeaky clean WWF - though most of Devastation would be reincorporated in the company over the coming years.
