In summer 2004, a parochial level of mistrust led former técnicos Perro Aguayo Jr., Héctor Garza and Tarzan Boy to form a collective, La Furia del Norte (the Fury of the North), bound together by mutual disdain for southern colleagues. They were subsequently joined by fellow northerner El Terrible in their erstwhile battle with Los Guerreros del Infierno.

When the faction moved on to a feud with CMLL's principalía, the venerated trio of Los Capos, Aguayo needed reinforcement. He incorporated La Familia de Tijuana and a collection of other notable heels into La Furia, wittily rebranding the group Los Perros del Mal.

The stable ran roughshod over CMLL's faces before Aguayo, alongside Damián 666 and Mr. Águila, defected to form their own promotion. The group gradually expanded to include more and more of lucha libre's most noteable rudos, culminating in a huge invasion angle of AAA in 2010.

Aguayo's life was tragically cut short during a match for The Crash promotion in March 2015, when a seemingly routine dropkick left the Perros leader limp on the edge of the apron. Konnan, at ringside, desperately tried to resuscitate the unconscious Aguayo as the match continued around him. Paramedics finally made their way to the scene and removed the stricken wrestler from the ring. He was pronounced dead later that evening.

The leader's untimely death left Los Perros rudderless. Despite vowing to uphold the faction, Pentágon quit the group in January 2017. He's unlikely to revive it in WWE.
