9 HUGE AEW Fyter Fest Predictions You Need To Know

3. Cody Vs. Darby Allin

Cody Darby Allin
AEW

Darby Allin is quietly one of All Elite Wrestling's most intriguing singings.

A scrawny skate punk from Seattle, Washington, he left 'boarding for wrestling when the former could no longer satisfy his appetite for adrenaline. He's a maniac bumper with a kill-or-be-killed approach that made him a massive underdog babyface under Gabe Sapolsky's WWN banner, though the EVOLVE promotion ultimately failed to go all the way with him, leading to Allin walking away earlier this year.

Found on Road to Fyter's second episode, Darby's first AEW promo did more to get his character over than three years in EVOLVE did. He's a troubled lad with a marketable look and genuine vulnerabilities. This makes him a great foil for Cody who, when the mood takes him, plays an excellent d*ckhead heel, though his union with brother Dustin suggests he'll be playing a good guy going forward.

The bout looks like it was put together to get Allin over against a big name. He'll fly, take risks, and dazzle like he always does, though it's hard to see AEW putting him over Cody at this stage. Darby needs to be built-up. This is a tiered roster, and while he's among those propping up the kayfabe pyramid at the moment, Cody is closer to the top.

Winner: Cody.
