9 Indie Stars Who Didn't Catch On In WWE

Thinking of parallel worlds is a fun thing to do as a professional wrestling fan. When Mistico signed with WWE in 2011, he was the biggest star in the lucha libre world. His signing was considered a major sign of Triple H's growing influence in the company, and WWE didn't hold back when it came to playing up the arrival of an international superstar.

To say it didn't work would be a dramatic understatement. Mistico was sent straight to the main roster, given no time to adjust to the WWE style and saddled with ridiculous match lighting in the process. It didn't helped that Mistico, now called Sin Cara, was prone to botching more than most.

The injuries piled up too, and by the end of March 2013 Mistico was gone. Sin Cara lives on in the shape of a masked Hunico, but the issues still abound.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
