9 Laws Of Physics That Only Exist In Wrestling
6. The Principle Of Involuntary Locomotion
Try to imagine someone forcing you to run. Not like in a dystopian, Stephen King-ian sense, like someone physically compelling your legs to move in tandem. That's impossible, right? Human locomotion is a complex process that takes months to master, as it requires the coordinated motion of several different muscle groups. The Irish whip, therefore, should be the easiest move in wrestling to counter: you just, you know, decline going for a jog.
Or so you'd think! Many leading wrestling physicists believe that the ring ropes are, in fact, imbued with differing electromagnetic charges, the net effect being the creation of a series of invisible "currents" that crisscross the canvas. Being thrown into one of these currents can be disorienting, and the wrestler runs the risk of sliding off in random directions, unable to find sure footing. Therefore, the most prudent response to the Irish whip is, in fact, to play along with the change in direction, and roll the dice on a counter once you bounce off the ropes.
