9 Match Star Ratings For AEW Fyter Fest

7. The Buy-In: Michael Nakazawa Vs. Alex Jebailey

Some people like Jebailey, clearly. This match generated a reaction.

The problem is that the people who remotely like Jebailey were all localised entirely within that building, making this embarrassing vanity quest the most unsuitable dark match to have ever made it onscreen. It was such a bizarre and poor reflection on this upstart, sports-oriented company that, again, it was scarcely believable.

What the f**k were they thinking? Comedy is subjective enough to render it unwise preshow fare, but this?

Everything Jebailey did looked like absolute sh*t, and he worked hard, but so what? He also worked poorly and unnecessarily. The layout wasn't that bad, and the execution not too offensive, because Michael Nakazawa is an idiosyncratic joy of a performer, but also, f*ck this. He deserves more credit than he'll receive for fashioning something that, while just beyond a terrible idea, wasn't close to the worst catastrophes ever spewed up by this great sport. It was like watching an even more embarrassing version of Shane McMahon trying to act the hard man. Pathetic. Counterproductive.

At times - most times - AEW Fyter Fest Buy In was the worst WWE TV show of the year.

Star Rating: *1/4
