9 Match Star Ratings For AEW Revolution 2021

5. Miro & Kip Sabian Vs. Orange Cassidy & Chuck Taylor

What is it with this otherwise excellent company and Miro? This was so odd. Constructed and timed like a TV match, why didn't it simply happen on TV?

If this went just eight minutes, why waste six-plus months on it? Of course, many would complain if it exceeded 15, but then, this dire and frivolous programme has invited every version of a complaint. This was probably the most sensible approach: "protect" Orange Cassidy, hint towards a full reboot of the Miro character, and get its business done in solid and economical fashion. But nobody wants to use the word protect when analysing AEW. Nobody wants to commend an AEW pay-per-view match for being dryly functional. Nobody wants to waste time on a Wednesday night struggling to invest in something that was just...there. This is meant to be All Elite. This wasn't even B-level TV special fare.

It wasn't awful. Miro looked like a killer in it: intense, powerful, super-aggressive. It functioned, effectively enough, to rejuvenate his ailing run, and it isn't lost. He lingered on the Game Over and wrenched that finish hard, registering its power to an almost frightening extent. There's a worker still in there somewhere.

Time now for AEW to discover the act.

Star Rating: ★★¾
