3. King Corbin Vs. Chad Gable*

*Apologies for the typo; this of course was a match between King Corbin and Shorty Gable. Greg Hamilton said that name when he declared him the winner! It's canon now!

And King Corbin was fired back into the cannon from which he was shot, as WWE sought to rebuild him as the King Of The Ring, because he is now 50/50 with Shorty. 50/50/50, actually: he got his "heat" back following a post-match attack backstage on Shorty, as RAW-Hell In A Cell rolled on.

This match was average at best. The fans barely reacted to it, possibly because Corbin, a half-serious proposition after impressing in a well-booked tournament with real stakes, is now comedic fodder once more. Shorty is also so smol, which didn't help the atmosphere, but he's usually so good that fans forget his awful booking and gradually react to the awesome performance. This didn't happen at Hell In A Cell, which marked a reversion from King back to Baron. The pace was lethargic and didn't escalate, and he was back on his chinlock bullsh*t. It never felt like Shorty was in real peril, and so his well-performed comeback spots didn't soar.

The worst match of the series by some distance, WWE ruined a good thing.

That's just what they do.

Star Rating: ★★¼
