9 Most Disappointing Wrestling Surprises Ever

1. The Higher Power

Some may disagree with this being the most disappointing surprise ever, but is it the most confusing, the most ridiculous, the most illogical? Well, yes.

In 1999, Vince McMahon's Corporation began beefing with The Undertaker and his Ministry of Darkness. Taker was particularly satanic during this time and actually kidnapped Vince's daughter Stephanie, in an attempt to have some sort of weird dark wedding with her. This happened twice, and the second time Steph was saved by Steve Austin of all people.

Vince and Austin reconciled their differences, as it seemed Vince was starting to soften in his old age. Sensing this, Shane McMahon booted him out of the Corporation and actually merged it with Taker's Ministry. Of course, during this time Taker claimed to be working under the orders of a 'higher power'. The time came to reveal just who that power was and, as we all know now, it turned out to be Vince McMahon. Why?

To screw with Austin.

It made no sense then, it hurts the brain even more now. What could have been a truly juicy, psychologically thrilling storyline reverted straight back into the McMahon family saga. Beware, Sister Abigal fans, beware...

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
