9 Notorious WWE Locker Room Leaders

6. JBL

As much as Benoit, Holly et al. took locker room policing seriously, nobody enforced it quite so vigorously as JBL. Simply put, JBL was a brash bully who would make the lives of rookies absolute hell in order to test them out (or because he genuinely hated them). Bradshaw has always had a reputation for dishing out beatings and starting fights in and out of the ring. He and Ron Simmons legitimately beat up the Public Enemy during their brief spell in the company, he told the Hardy's to 'go to hell' every time they tried to shake his hand because The Hardy's had refused to throw beer cans at road signs when travelling and he definitely had some words with members of the ECWCW Alliance in 2001. JBL has also tried to scare straight members of the locker room in the past. Rumour has it that he once tied up and threatened to rape a wrestler who had been accused of (or was bragging about) date raping a young girl. Edge revealed in his 2004 autobiography that when he was just starting out in the WWF that Bradshaw came up to him in the showers and very tenderly began to soap him up. What a terrifying image. Bradshaw's hazing has caused several wrestlers, including Palmer Canon and Chad Wicks (of 'The Dicks' fame) to quit the company. His issues with The Blue Meanie are, by now, very well-documented. Yes, it seems that JBL had power and he knew it and he ultimately abused it. He was/is tight with Vince and The Undertaker and was a big, Texas football-playing jock so it's no surprise that this is what he did backstage. It doesn't excuse that behaviour, mind you. It's doubtful that this kind of behaviour would be tolerated in today's WWE and JBL himself has supposedly mellowed out a lot over the last few years. No he's a commentator and does a lot of charity work and generally leaves other talent alone. Some of the guys that JBL hazed and ribbed, like The Miz, are doing pretty well for themselves these days. It's hard to say that he would be where he is if he didn't pass JBL's initiation.
