9 Potential Replacements For JBL On WWE Commentary

8. Christian

Christian’s current status is uncertain. WWE have reported that he has retired from in-ring competition, while the man himself has debunked these claims as false. What is for certain, however, is that Christian is still employed with WWE, yet they do not use him as much as they could.

Often relegated to pre-show discussion panels and other speaking-related roles, Christian is a very talented WWE Superstar who can cut very good promos when necessary. As he has demonstrated in the past, he can change his tone of voice in a whim, transitioning from comedic to serious with little difficulty. He also possesses a naturally strong voice that commands attention when you hear it, yet even when he’s speaking at his loudest, his voice doesn’t come across as coarse or overly-aggressive.

As a commentator, Christian, like others on this list, would do a good job of commentating from a wrestler’s perspective. He would also do a good job of doing comedy and arguing if that was asked of him. Although it’s not likely by this point, given the lukewarm response to his 2011 heel run and subsequent face status, Christian could actually do a better job of arguing with the other commentators in a heelish role than JBL, who has, in recent years, turned that into his on-screen character’s defining personality trait.
