9 Quick Fixes That Would Have Improved WWE Battleground 2016

Where was Balor!?

It's fair to say that Battleground 2016 was a decidedly better show than just about anyone expected, what with a rock solid main event which saw Roman Reigns eat a clean pin, and a show-stealing contest between Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens.

That said, it was far from perfect, and the mid-card matches in particular suffered from some rough booking that denied fans a host of potentially memorable moments and title changes.

Rather than move characters on in a meaningful way, this show basically span its wheels and delivered very little in the way of significant storytelling, even if the wrestling was largely consistent.

These changes to the show would've quickened the pace, added a ton of excitement and basically prevented it from feeling like a filler PPV until SummerSlam next month.

Here are 9 quick fixes that would've improved WWE Battleground 2016...

9. Giving Cesaro A Match

Cesaro appeared briefly on the pre-show and seemed to suggest that WWE are letting him run with the ball after his brutally honest promo during the Draft.

The Swiss Superman rightly complained about not being booked on the card despite being one of the most talented members of the roster, pretty much reflecting what most fans were feeling.

Seriously, given the fact that Battleground had a number of TV-grade filler matches, was there really not enough room to throw Cesaro in there somewhere, even if it was just a case of adding him to another bout and making it a Triple Threat?

Considering the traction he picked up from his terrific Draft shoot, they really need to strike while the iron's hot and give him a chance to express himself both in and out of the ring, given how Vince claims he doesn't connect with the crowd, which patently isn't true.
