I think we all fully expect some shenanigans to take place in the triple threat match at Battleground, leading to the splitting of the WWE world heavyweight championship so that each show can have its own champion. Ideally the title holders would be able to float between brands and defend their belts on each show, but that's not how WWE decided to do things last time and the booking seems to be heading toward a similar setup once again.

When you take current champions into account, Raw ended the night with the United States champion (Rusev w/Lana), the tag team titlists (New Day), and the women's champion (Charlotte). There will obviously also be a cruiserweight champion crowned, and eventually their own version of a World/WWE kingpin as well.

On the blue side of things, SmackDown held onto the most important title by drafting Dean Ambrose, although it'll be surprising if he holds on to that past Sunday's Battleground, and Intercontinental champion The Miz. Outside of those two Raw managed to bring in all the champions, and if there's not show-specific versions of those titles created then SmackDown competitors have no chance to win those belts.

What's their motivation to wrestle without the opportunity to win a title in their respective divisions?
