9 Things That Must Happen At NXT TakeOver: Philadelphia

1. Tommaso Ciampa Costs Johnny Wrestling The NXT Championship

Andrade Almas has already defeated Johnny Gargano in two big matches, and he will do so in a third on Saturday night. This victory won’t come without a struggle, and on a number of occasions it will seem as though Gargano has the title within his grasp. Johnny may even get Almas locked in the Garga-No Escape, before a familiar face will return to throw Johnny Wrestling completely off his game.

Tommaso Ciampa is still a month or two away from returning, maybe more. The Sicilian Psycho does not need to get physically involved in Philadelphia though - his appearance alone will mean the end for his former tag team partner. If Gargano was distracted by a simple shirt in the past, how will he react to his former best friend standing right in front of him?

More so than any feud in NXT history, Johnny Gargano vs. Tommaso Ciampa does not require a championship to be involved. The two must collide at the WrestleMania TakeOver and again at Brooklyn IV. The title can be involved by the latter, but the seeds of what will become NXT’s defining rivalry must begin to blossom on Saturday night. It will make for compelling viewing, along with setting up WWE developmental for the next six months or more.

Roll on Saturday night.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
