9 Things To Expect With TNA's New Ownership
6. New TV Deals
The Fight Network airs TNA’s programming (and ROH’s) in Canada, but they don’t have the rights to their shows in the United States, as Pop TV has it. However, Pop reportedly isn’t paying out that much money for Impact, as they shouldn't, since the viewership is less than half of what it was when they were on Spike TV a few years ago.
While things still seem relatively safe in America (though not very profitable), the situation is far more dire in the UK right now, as the Challenge Network has decided to boot the company from the air. This was one of TNA’s biggest money-making TV deals (Sony Six in India is the biggest), which means they’re going to need to find a way to make up all that lost money.
It would be a shame for long-time fans in England to no longer be able to watch the show, so you can imagine Fight is going to try and land something there soon. If they're unable to, this could already end up being a bad business decision on their part. Due to the falling ratings in the country, though, Fight likely won’t have much of a case for finding a similar deal. They have a bit of work to do ahead of them.
They may have to look elsewhere for fans to gain access to their newest acquisition...
