9 Things We Learned From Baron Corbin On Talk Is Jericho

4. Corbin Had Never Worked A Ladder Match Before Money In The Bank

Baron Corbin

It shows how wrapped up in American Football Corbin was that he had to ask Chris Jericho if he really invented the Money In The Bank match "back in 2001". Looks like the big bad Baron has had a few knocks to the head in the NFL! Despite this lack of MITB knowledge (the first match was in 2005 at 'Mania 21), it's still surprising to learn that the recent pay-per-view marked Baron's first ladder match.

Aside from scaling ladders around his house, Corbin had never so much as touched one inside a wrestling ring. During the interview with Y2J, he noted how intimidating it was to clamber up a rickety, broken ladder when the ring canvas was shaking beneath him. Worse, he didn't realise just how much being hit with the things would hurt.

Corbin wasn't the only one new to ladder matches that evening, because Shinsuke Nakamura hardly worked many gimmick bouts in NJPW either. Still, Nakamura wasn't the one winning the thing, so he wouldn't have to climb the full way.
