9 Things We Learned From WWE Chronicle: Goldberg

4. He Wanted To Prove Doubters Wrong

The debacle in the desert betwixt Big Bill and the badass biker from Bone Street quite rightly drew the ire of fans and critics alike, not just for its drastic quality, but worse, for being scarily dangerous for both men involved.

It's almost as if putting the two together at this stage of their respective careers was maybe a bad idea. And it's not as if plenty of the same dissenting voices after the fact hadn't forewarned of the consequences.

But would they listen? Not for toffee. Lacing up ahead of the Jeddah showdown, Goldberg intended to prove doubters wrong. He was sick of reading that it was 20 years too late, that they had "a combined age of a hundred... " (almost verbatim to my own copy ahead of time). He wanted to put to rest the "two move BS" myth and show what he really had.

We're not sure exactly what he proved, but it wasn't ideal.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
