Tape-trading aficionados haven't quite been searching for the wrestling Holy Grail for the past 33 years, but it's damn well near enough ever since Wrestling Observer supremo Dave Meltzer first reported Bret Hart's miracle carry-job.

With such a history of self-perpetuating gravitas, surely the real deal could never hope to equal the expectations of apocrypha?

It's pretty bloody close. Nobody was under any particular delusions that Hart-Magee was a snowflake stirring classic, but rather a perfect example of Bret's cooperative acumen - and it's precisely that. The Hitman truly creates a star of a stranger, and all the mixed musings on the match are perfectly borne out. If anything, the video quality and the inclusion of commentary means it even surpasses expectations.

He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
