9 Things WWE Got Right At Elimination Chamber 2017
1. Bray Wyatt, WWE Champion
WWE Elimination Chamber 2017 ended with Bray Wyatt standing tall as the new WWE Champion after outlasting his five opponents in the eponymous match. Wyatt managed to pin both John Cena and AJ Styles as clean as you like, and as such comes out of the match not just as champion but also as a credible top star in the company. After years of questionable booking this represents real redemption for the Eater of Worlds.
Ever since making his main roster debut in 2013, Bray Wyatt has been positioned as a big deal. The overwhelming majority of his feuds have been with top level performers and his two WrestleMania matches to date have been against John Cena and The Undertaker. Despite this, his stock has dropped somewhat in the three years since, a result of stop-start booking and his seemingly never-ending conveyor belt of empty words.
Those words were given body at Elimination Chamber. Bray Wyatt will now go on to defend the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 33 against Royal Rumble winner Randy Orton. Bray won't be the favourite going into that match and many will be surprised if he leaves with the title over his shoulder, but as of right now Bray Wyatt deserves to bask in the glory of his first singles championship in professional wrestling.
It was clearly the right decision and the right way to end another solid night for WWE's blue brand. Roll on WrestleMania 33.
