9 Things You Didn't Know About Xavier Woods

9. His First Gimmick Was An Apollo Creed Knockoff

Teary-eyed TNA viewers and lovers of wrestling nostalgia will remember Xavier Woods from his run in TNA as Consequences Creed. Consequences was, as you can clearly see in the picture above, a red, white and blue babyface all the way. The stars and stripes were ubiquitous. The character was loosely based on Apollo Creed, the antagonist from the first two Rocky films who would go on to be ended by Ivan Drago in Rocky IV. Whilst this is common knowledge, what is less known is that Xavier had been using this gimmick long before he arrived in TNA. Xavier's first experience of a wrestling promotion came in the World Wrestling Council. Here he went by the name of Austin Creed, which UpUpDownDown fans will know as his gamertag today. The character was no different to the Consequences character, albeit with the name change. Woods also used the character in the NWA Anarchy promotion, where he was voted their most popular superstar in 2006. TEN YEARS AGO.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
