9 Unofficial WWE Royal Rumbles
3. 15-Man SmackDown! Rumble (SmackDown, 29/1/04)
In 2004, SmackDown general manager Paul Heyman came up with a novel way of getting around the fact that Royal Rumble winner Chris Benoit was defecting to Raw: he would simply hold another one.
That's exactly what he did on the follow-up episode of his show on 29 January, pulling together 15 of his roster's boldest and brightest for one of the most memorable - if predictable - main events in the history of the blue brand.
We say predictable because - given the names of those involved - it was basically between Big Show, Kurt Angle and Eddie Guerrero, and since the latter was attacked backstage by his nephew in the build-up before making a triumphant entrance, it was pretty obvious which one was winning.
But it's not as though you can fault the decision. Latino Heat was mega-hot at this time, and with company heads desperately needing to remove the title from Brock Lesnar ahead of his March exit, there was no better time to give him his shot in the main event.
