9 Ups & 1 Down From AEW Dynamite (17 Nov)

8. Thunder In The Distance

The second of three tidy backstage segments covered in this week's column saw Britt Baker (and her crew) interviewed by Tony Schiavone.

When prompted, Baker said she was tired of being the women's division's centrepiece, so she's letting Jamie Hayter, the future TBS Champion have some of the spotlight. Hayter has Baker's long-term rival, Thunder Rosa, next week, but Britt isn't worried - the former NWA Women's World Champion is on the road to irrelevancy.

This works on three levels:-

1. Putting heat on Jamie Hayter vs. Thunder Rosa.

2. Laying groundwork for an eventual Hayter/Baker split, should Jamie fail to overcome Rosa.

3. Keeping Baker vs. Rosa in people's minds. The duo are expected to wrestle for Britt's Women's World Title at some point in early 2022.

Economical pro wrestling television pushes multiple issues forward with minimal fat. That's exactly what happened here.
