9 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW All Out 2023 (Results & Review)

2. Bullet Club Gold Vs FTR & The Young Bucks

Bullet Club Gold FTR
AEW

In an AEW where CM Punk still existed, this match was almost required by law to feature the babyface team attempting Punk/Elite signature spots in a petty game of oneupmanship that opened the door for Bullet Club Gold to walk in and claim yet another high profile victory in this strange feud-that-isn't-a-feud.

With him gone, the two best teams in the game delivered something better.

Echoing FTR's former shaky NXT alliance with #DIY and The Bucks' mutual respect offence theft with The Lucha Bros at this very show four years earlier, the coming together of the two best teams in the world was a glorious sight to behold even if it couldn't snag the win. And of course it couldn't - Jay White's crew have driven a wedge further into an already-fractious union, and done so at the most opportune time for their own gains. Yet again, this was a realisation of some better booking coming out of the show than anything we were provided going in.

Any combination from BCG could theoretically argue their way to a title shot at this point, all while Matt and Nick Jackson look set to embark on a life raft of a heel turn while they're back at their most divisive. The future for all finally looks brighter than the dimly-lit recent past.
