9 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Dynamite (15 Sep)

4. The Suzuki Incident

Credit to AEW for turning The Suzuki Incident into a storyline.

Though no more than a minor complaint, and something that ultimately didn't need to matter in the grander scheme, dovetailing a producer cutting Minoru Suzuki's Kaze Ni Nare off before its iconic refrain into something meaningful is deft work. MiSu and Suzuki-Gun partner Lance Archer were p*ssed off at Moxley for only fighting the Pancrase legend with everything on his side. Now, they're going to pick them apart in New York.

Moxley and Eddie Kingston wrestled 2point0 on the show, putting down those cocky punks with swiftness and brutality. AEW's folk heroes have had enough of Lee, Parker, Garcia, and their bullsh*t, and it showed in their work, though the extended squash was primarily window dressing for the brawl with Suzuki and Archer that closed the show.

Which, as you guessed it, was hot.

There's a palpable energy to AEW Dynamite that doesn't exist on other wrestling shows. This was clear here, as AEW delivered a total package that successfully whetted the appetite for Arthur Ashe Stadium.
