9 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Dynamite: Winter Is Coming (Dec 2)

7. Sweet Revenge For Allin & Rhodes

Darby Allin
AEW

Darby Allin and Cody Rhodes vs. Team Taz's Powerhouse Hobbs and Ricky Starks wasn't the all-out popper one may have expected from looking at the lineup, but was still an effective tag bout that succeeded in its primary goal of making Hobbs look like a beast.

Taz's Powerhouse entered a good performance here. His usual strength spots hit like they always do, but his heel character is coming together nicely as well, with Hobbs sneering and flexing his way through the bout, pausing for press-ups early on.

Hobbs was wiped out for the finish. Cody dived on him after Darby had sneakily tagged in without the heels noticing, leaving Starks alone with Allin, who quickly scaled the top rope for the Coffin Drop. Job done.

We'll get to the aftermath later, but this worked. Revenge must have tasted sweet for Rhodes in particular, given what Taz did to him last week, though there was no sign of Hook here.
