9 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Dynamite (6 Oct)

4. The TBS Championship

TBS Title
AEW

Tony Khan's big Dynamite announcement was delivered by Tony Schiavone and Aubrey Edwards, who unveiled the new TBS Championship in the ring, putting it over as both an important moment for the women's division and a celebratory move ahead of Dynamite's switch from TNT on 5 January.

The men's scene has benefited immensely from the TNT Title, which has given wrestlers extra purpose outwith the immediate World Title picture. One can only hope it does the same for AEW's women, who, despite their growing ranks, continue to struggle for focus and engagement, with the promotion still facing a mountain of work before shaking off the critics.

Skye Blue, Jade Cargill, Thunder Rosa, and Ruby Soho all commented on the upcoming tournament in follow-up promos, before a defiant Britt Baker claimed she was delighted that the division now had something else to obsess over rather than her. Immediately, the TBS Championship was presented as something to strive for.
