9 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Dynamite (Apr 15)

A solid show let down by a hugely disappointing main event.

Jon Moxley
AEW

This has been a horrible week for professional wrestling.

While WWE's situation is infinitely sadder than AEW's, news that the Tony Khan-helmed promotion plan to push forward with Double Or Nothing on 23 May was disappointing. The opportunity to prioritise employee health and wellbeing above all else was right there. Rather than grabbing it, AEW announced they'd be proceeding with the show from an undetermined location, albeit taking relevant state guidance into account. This may change and if it is, the situation can be reappraised. For now, though, it's a shame - as difficult as it would be to build storylines without a pay-per-view to blow things off.

Pieced together from footage shot in Georgia and Florida weeks ago was last night's episode of Dynamite. Headlined by an extremely well-built Jake Hager vs. Jon Moxley title fight, it promised much, particularly with Lance Archer and Colt Cabana clashing in their TNT Championship tournament first-rounder and Sammy Guevara, Britt Baker, and more all advertised. Chris Jericho was on commentary again, too. How delightful.

A good show here, though the Downs were significant. Let's light the fuse on the AEW flagship's latest voyage...
