9 Ups & 3 Downs From IMPACT Wrestling (27 May)

1. No Laughing Matter

Christ, W. Morrissey may have etched his name into the list of professional wrestling’s all-time great talkers with this promo. Genuine, compelling, bone-chilling material from the former Big Cass.

Talking with Gia Miller, the seven-footer talked about how everyone in the business pretends to be your friend, only to slag you off behind your back. They just want that feeling of them coming across as the good guy. Case in point, when Morrissey had a seizure at a House Of Hardcore event in December 2018, the 1,500 fans in attendance who claimed to love him all recorded the footage for YouTube, rather than dialling an ambulance for him, whereas no one contacted him while he was on a hiatus. Case in point part deux, when he returned to wrestling, everyone suddenly wanted to be his friend, saying how good it was to see him back and how great he’s looking.

This was utter perfection. You believed every word that left his mouth here. The guy has always been a decent talker, as his work with Enzo Amore proved, but he’s never been this good.

Rich Swann superkicked Morrissey once he was done talking, likely setting up a match at Against All Odds. Good. It’ll be great.
