9 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Full Gear 2022
1. A Nothing Match
Meanwhile, this might've been better on Rampage.
The build towards Nyla Rose challenging Jade Cargill has been iffy for weeks. Rose, backed by Vickie Guerrero and Marina Shafir, stole the TBS belt from Jade, then paraded around pretending she was the rightful champ. It's a stock wrestling 101 angle, but AEW phoned it in.
Listen (copyright Max Caster), this writer loves him some Cargill, but Full Gear marked yet another duff pay-per-view showing for her. Tony Khan needs to find someone who can pull more from Jade on supershows, because this latest run of PPV bouts has been bang average match after bang average match, and she's actually hurting each card.
The highlight of the entire segment was Cargill's Thundercats look, to be honest. Yes, she's 42-0, still unbeaten etc etc. Unfortunately, despite all the hype from the announcers, this wasn't the kind of match that managed to redeem bogus build.
