9 Ups & 5 Downs From Impact Wrestling (Jan 28)

1. Five More Matches

Michael Elgin and Eddie Edwards' rivalry as of late has been fantastic. The story to it, with Elgin wanting the Call Your Shot trophy, hasn't been overly interesting, but the matches between the duo have been truly wonderful. With that in mind, it's fantastic to see a best of five series start between them this week - that means at least two more matches between them after this week.

This was most definitely their best match to date. It was clear that 'Big Mike' just wanted to destroy Edwards at this stage, swinging him ribs first into the guardrail not long into the match, before then dropping him on his neck on two separate occasions. This was only match one in the series, but it could've easily been the last if Elgin continued on this path for much longer.

Simply put, there wasn't a single terrible portion to this match. From Eddie again going outside of his comfort zone by using a more power-based offence against the larger Canadian to the way the match ended, with Eddie passing out to a crossface as opposed to physically submitting, it was pure excellence.

If this sort of action keeps up for the duration of the series, then we could be in for some absolute bangers over the next few weeks.
