One of the many regular gripes about WWE's process is that every few months, what little semblance of logic running through their product is suspended entirely as focus switches to a cumbersomely scheduled gimmick PPV, meaning all feuds are suddenly contrived to shoehorn the special stipulations.

For once, this inescapable fact of the pre-booked calendar was lampshaded on last night's SmackDown. Triple H, asked why he had came to the show, explained that he saw an advert on Crown Jewel advertising NXT's involvement in the impending Survivor Series brand warfare. He considered this a taunt, a provocation, and so turned up seeking first blood.

Now... if it were any other company, we'd suggest one of the key executives learning the details of an upcoming event courtesy of a television advert would be unrealistic. But this is WWE, and it's eminently sensible that the arse does not know what the elbow is doing.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
