9 Ups & 5 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Nov 27)

6. Prepare For Violence

Randy Orton Rey Mysterio

One week removed from stealing an otherwise tepid episode of SmackDown by heinously unmasking Rey Mysterio, Randy Orton was back on the stick last night, taking the luchador's scalp with him. The proceeding promo was exactly what we've come to expect from 'The Viper' lately, which is to say it was strong.

Calling the previous week's actions "euphoric," Randy once again trashed the significance of the "piece of trash" in his hands, claiming not to care about Mexican wrestling traditions. Mysterio was just another victim. All Orton wanted to do was "embarrass him, and knock him off the pedestal fans have put him on," and of course, out came Rey, neck brace and all, ready for a fight.

This went predictably poorly for the high-flyer. Though he was quick to gain the upper hand, Randy soon took over, seizing upon Rey's injured state to destroy him inside the ring and out. A draping DDT preceded Orton dumping Ray to the outside before crushing his larynx with a steel chair, only to be chased off by road agents, keeping their heat alive for next week.
