9 Ups And 2 Downs From WWE Raw (June 2)

1. Nia Strikes Again

The experts will need to review the video a few times, and there will be heavy debate on social media, but there can be no denying the obvious:

Nia Jax is involved in a disproportionate number of matches that involve injury.

Monday night, Kairi Sane was injured during her bout with Jax when she was tossed into the steps, hitting face first and cutting her head open. Apparently, the match was stopped to clean up the blood before they determined Sane could finish jobbing to Nia. None of that made the final version, which was edited from the toss into the steps straight into the finish.

Maybe it’s Kairi’s fault and she should have tucked or turned more quickly. But it’s yet another Nia match where a wrestler was injured, so it again raises questions about how safe she is in the ring, and it sparks the debate over whether she “deserves” a spot at the top of the division.

This isn’t to cast stones at Jax per se, but it’s worth noting here and raising the issue of whether she adds more to the division than she detracts. For this writer, either the booking is bad or the wrestler is underwhelming, but it just doesn’t feel like she’s got it.
