Jerry Lawler is a hit-or-miss commentator at this stage in his career. Some weeks, he’s insightful and dialed in. Other weeks, he’s painfully disconnected to the product he’s calling.

Monday, Lawler offered up a couple nice touches early on in the episode. The King wondered aloud why Kevin Owens kept trying to attack Seth Rollins when all of his partners keep getting injured. It was a legit question, and then he followed up a Byron Saxton question about how to deal with a 3-on-1 situation by just musing that it just never ends well in that situation. Simple, but true.

Later on, Lawler drew on his own personal career when the announcers were decrying how Angel Garza could turn on his cousin Humberto Carrillo. Lawler noted that his cousin, the Honky Tonk Man, and he rarely agreed on anything, which might have been one of the first times they acknowledged the relationship on WWE TV. (Someone will correct if that’s wrong.)

It wasn’t the most insightful thing we’ve ever heard, but those blurbs added to the show, and we’ll give some credit here.
