9 Ups And 5 Downs From WWE Raw Reunion
Downs...
5. Faces Win
One of the odd side-effects of reunion shows like these is that you rarely see villains gain the upper hand in any way, shape or form. It seems to run counter to the entire positive vibe that they’re trying to promote.
And while that might make sense from an emotional standpoint, it doesn’t really allow for logical, linear storytelling. So you get stuff like Raw Tag Team Champions The Revival jobbing, Samoa Joe losing clean, Seth Rollins defeating the United States Champion AJ Styles by DQ, and Rey Mysterio toppling Sami Zayn.
This isn’t a harsh negative by any stretch, but it’s an observation that one of the drawbacks to doing a show like this – especially just three weeks out from a major PPV like SummerSlam – is that storylines are more or less put on hold because you can’t advance angles when only the babyfaces emerge victorious.
But hey, at least it was a fun night.
