AJ Styles finally lashed out to some degree at his brothers from New Japan Monday night, telling Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson in no uncertain terms that he wanted to stand on his own and earn his reputation in WWE rather than relying on backup.

For the past month-plus, Styles has insisted that he wanted to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship himself, but then Gallows and Anderson would interfere on his behalf to try to tip the scales, ultimately unsuccessfully. Anderson called AJ out on this attitude, but Styles insisted that he needed to stand on his own professionally.

The confrontation didnt translate into Gallows and Anderson costing Styles his match against Kevin Owens later, which would have been a safe assumption. But it did establish that AJ is at odds with his former running buddies and could face repercussions down the line. For now, itll be interesting to see whats next for Styles in the wake of his feud with Roman Reigns.
