5. A Unique Choice For Men’s MITB

Umm, Otis?

OTIS?

Sure, why not? Of all the men participating in the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match, Otis had to be the wild card of the bunch. Rey Mysterio, Daniel Bryan and AJ Styles all would be “safe” choices as former world champions who would be believable with the briefcase.

King Corbin was a former MITB winner who failed at his cash-in and is a midcard heel at best. Aleister Black would have been a fun and intriguing winner, and it could have elevated him to the next level quickly.

But Otis is one-half of a comedy tag team, ensconced in a fun romance angle with Mandy Rose and feud with Dolph Ziggler & Sonya Deville. He doesn’t exactly scream “future world champion.” Far from it. So having him win the MITB briefcase – and in the manner he did, with the briefcase literally falling into his hands – is a perplexing one.

But it’s also a very different choice. There are 100 different ways this could go, and for that reason alone, we’ll give this a tentative “up.”
