9 Ups And 8 Downs From WWE Money In The Bank 2020

2. A Logical Reward For The Empress

This column has credited Asuka with being an MVP for Raw during these empty arena shows. WWE apparently agrees.

Asuka captured the women’s Money in the Bank briefcase Sunday night, earning herself a title shot whenever she chooses. The victory puts the former tag champ right back at the top of the card, a legit threat to Becky Lynch, who has only managed to beat the Empress of Tomorrow once, at Royal Rumble.

It will be interesting to see how WWE plays this, with Lynch confronting Asuka on Raw Monday night. Maybe she’ll challenge her to cash it in at Backlash next month. Or maybe Asuka, who still technically is a heel, will bide her time and strike when Becky is vulnerable.

Regardless, this was a good, safe call for the briefcase.
