9 Ups And 8 Downs From WWE Money In The Bank 2020

Downs...

8. Explaining The Joke

MVP R-Truth

Why does WWE insist on assuming its fans are too stupid to get a joke? Or feel the need to explain the gag just to make it completely unfunny?

R-Truth was in his usual delusional state backstage when Charly Caruso caught up to him, as he talked about beating MVP, when in fact he got squashed by replacement Bobby Lashley. Truth then revealed that he really was missing his 24/7 Championship, which he lost at WrestleMania 36 to PPV host Rob Gronkowski. Gronk has since fled back to the NFL, apparently with title still in hand.

Truth then said that he wanted his baby back and that he was going to sack Tom Brady to get it back. It was classic R-Truth and got a snicker out of this writer. And then Charly made sure to point out that Truth meant Gronk, not his Tampa Bay teammate.

If you follow WWE even halfway, you probably know that. If you don't then having the joke explained to you isn't suddenly going to make it funny. Just let it fall and let those of us who get it laugh.
